Hi Everyone! I am jumping out of my skin as I type this blog post!

The January 2009 Edition of Pink Comb Salon features Pink Comb and a story about me in it’s “Big Fish, Small Pond” Section!! American Salon is a magazine published nationwide - that means every subscriber ACROSS the US has got their hands on a copy! I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to represent our beloved New Jersey!!!!!!

I am so flattered to see my salon in this magazine and the article is out of this world! I got interviewed for this piece this past November while in San Francisco…and it all came together so perfect! I have to take this opportunity to thanks my friend and associate, Alana Michaels for helping me with the success of this article. If it wasn’t for her keeping me on task, it would not be possible!!

What a way to start a year! Happy 2009!!!

A little about the magazine:

On Sunday, I treated my wonderful staff to dinner and drinks at one of our favorite eateries in Nutley, Michael’s Pastaria located on Franklin Ave. This place is amazing! It was really important for me to do something for my girls to show my appreciation. It would not have been possible to accomplish everything this year if it was not for their hard work and patience. I would rather share an experience then give a gift…. so it was a no brainer to treat to a delicious meal! Alana, my Marketing and Event Coordinator was absent from this event, but was greatly missed. There were seven of us at this year’s holiday party and my hope is to have at least a dozen ladies at next year’s reservation!!

We ate and drank like queens(a special thanks to my Grandpa for “donating” his fine wines to us) and enjoyed the perfect ending to our dinner - a Pink Comb Cake(double chocolate with Cannoli Cream Filling) Made by the wonderful Shop Rite of Nutley. The designers at that bakery are amazing…. see for yourself below!!!

Wow 2008 is almost over!! Here is to a Happy and Healthy New Year! Cheers!!!

Hi Everyone! I have to share this exciting news! I know I still have a few days left in the year but……………here it goes…………………

I feel blessed to announce that I have done 97 weddings in 2008 - its surreal. This year has been a prosperous and successful year for me and my company - I opened my salon and managed to complete 97 weddings - 97! Wow! Just typing that number gives me the chills. Who would have thought that one “Free” Ad on craigslist in 2001 could have led me here?

I feel honored to have been a part of each and every one of those 97 brides lives - This is a profession that I truly enjoy and love with all of my heart. Thank you everyone for letting me be a part of your special day and for leading me to such success in my career!

Here is to an AWESOME 2009 - I am “cheers-ing” you all with my Raspberry Sparkeletini Verdi (The best!)

Lots of Love, Michelle

PS - Congrats to this weekends Brides - (Friday) Kimberly P. (Go SJU!) and (Saturday) Kathy K.

Kathy~ you and your fiance are in my thoughts and prayers always. I am happy to have been a part of your special day. I hope it was everything you could have imagined and more.

Hey Everyone - This year my “gift to self” for the holiday was my education through Wella where I completed a series of haircolor course work between San Francisco and New York City working up to my “Master” Colorist Certification.  My last class was Sunday in Rockefellar Center and now I am done and ready to show the world my new skills. It is honestly one of the best things I could have done. As a stylist and an artist, I feel as though I am constantly learning every day. The ability to work with top of the line stylists and educators has definately opened up a new world of opportunity and has given me a new approach to the way I handle all of my color clients, whether it be hilights or corrective color! My salon is a Wella Salon, we use Wella Koleston Perfect and Color Touch. If you are educated on your hair color brands, you know this is one of the BEST lines out there!!

I just wanted to share this exciting news! Merry Christmas EVE EVE!!

Hey Everyone! I want you to meet Jill - she was one of my FAVORITE brides of 2008! As you can see from the pictures, Jill radiates happiness and excitement - and my team and I surely felt it as we provided her and her girls with hair and make-up on the big day!
Jill and I worked together for a about a year, she sent me her deposit in October and 2007 and I enjoyed maintaining contact with her leading up to the big day! It was simple to get Jill’s look - obviously she is a natural beauty but to get herself ready to walk down that aisle she came to Pink Comb Salon for a color glossing(which is semi-permanent hair color that adds shine and warmth) and she decided on extensions for her already long locks(for volume and fullness)….. slap on a killer pair of eyelashes and a natural make-up application with golds and browns - and there you have it!
The pictures below as compliments of David Lau Photography. They are awesome! I have known David and Amy for many years now - you can’t go wrong choosing this husband and wife team as your wedding photographers. Not only are they super talented, they are super cute! I also have to mention Jill’s fabulous Day of Coordinator, Limor Di Petro who kept everything in check that day with grace and elegance. Limor’s Company, Koru Event Design is worth checking out - Coordinaton, place cards, invites - you name it, she does it!!
Thanks for the pics Amy and David - and Congrats to Jill and Chris!!!!

On Thursday, December 4, Nicole and I had the opportunity to work towards our Master Colorist Certification at the Wella Studio in New York City. If you remember last month, I attended the Wella Studio in San Francisco - this is yet another course int he series I am taking to complete my Masters!

Thursday was great! The class we took was called “Dimensional Coloring.” We worked on the art of foil and dimensional haircoloring - the seminar focused on color placement, weavings and slicing and a practical workshop. It was awesome. We had a blast and learned a lot! We can’t wait to go back next week!!
